Oona Foster, 719

I am Oona Foster, a 28-year-old expert in gender equality and equity, holding a master’s degree in gender studies and a mother in a multicultural family from East Helsinki. I work at a feminist organization, promoting efforts to combat violence against women, enhance the participation of women and girls, and advance workplace equality. In my free time, I dance dancehall, go to the gym, practice yoga, and study French at university. Additionally, I am active in the Green Party Council, Helsinki’s Equality and Non-Discrimination Committee, and serve as the Vice Chair of Familia ry, advocating for the rights of multicultural families.

I am running in the municipal elections for a more equal and solidarity-driven Helsinki. My political priorities are reducing inequality and addressing environmental crises in a just manner. Helsinki must stand as a counterforce to the government’s regressive policies. I want to build a feminist and anti-racist Helsinki, where poverty and inequality are tackled through strong public services. My vision is a thriving city where both people and nature flourish.

Campaign Themes

Feminism
Equality and equity must be the foundation of all decision-making. I commit to improving wages and working conditions in female-dominated sectors, eliminating domestic violence, and promoting equal access to education.

Anti-racism
Let’s foster intercultural encounters and invest in services and employment opportunities for immigrants. We must combat hate speech and discrimination while ensuring healthcare access for undocumented individuals. Helsinki has room for everyone—except racism!

Strong Public Services
Everyone deserves access to high-quality social and healthcare services, affordable housing, early childhood education, and schooling, regardless of their income. Helsinki must stand against the government’s harmful policies that increase poverty.

Environment
Fighting the climate crisis and biodiversity loss must be a top priority in decision-making. Let’s build a carbon-negative and nature-positive city where people, animals, and the environment can thrive.
